New technologies and how their implementation can boost or support oil and gas exploration production will be brought to the fore at this year’s Subsea Expo.

For the first time, Subsea UK’s annual conference and exhibition, which takes place from February 11-13, will provide a platform for organizations to introduce, discuss and demonstrate their latest innovations.

The Spotlight on Technology session that takes place during the event’s final day will provide essential updates on new ways of thinking and give insights into improved processes and efficiencies.

Chaired by Dr Gordon Drummond, project director for NSRI (National Subsea Research Initiative), the session will give a dozen companies ten minutes in the spotlight to outline their innovation and potential applications.

Selected by a panel of subsea experts, the companies being invited to present are: WITTENSTEIN, C-Kore Systems, Nautronix, PhotoSynergy, Tritech International, OneSubsea, Airborne Oil & Gas, Ocean Power Technologies, MMT UK, Aker Solutions and Matrix.

The presentations will cover subjects such as increasing shareholder value with subsea electric actuation systems; technical and safety advances in communications for saturation diving; and  field-proven techniques in target identification and tracking using sonar technologies

Dr Drummond said: “In the current low oil price environment, innovation and technology will be more important than ever in driving efficiencies and developing effective solutions to the challenges the industry presently faces, particularly in the North Sea.

“We have some outstanding presentations featuring exciting breakthroughs in processes that could make a real difference to the industry in subsea buoyancy, umbilical systems, subsea sampling, pipeline inspection and safety. The session covers a wide cross section of the industry and I expect it to appeal to many people attending Subsea Expo.”

The largest ever attendance at Subsea Expo is anticipated this year and over 200 companies are scheduled to exhibit during the conference despite the current challenges facing the industry due to the sharp drop in oil prices.

The full Subsea Expo 2015 program is packed with high profile industry speakers delivering leadership messages at the plenary session. The main topics to be explored are maximizing global opportunities, key projects around the world, the marine renewables market, standardization and optimization, pipelines, ROV and inspection and technology and R&D.

Entrance to the exhibition is free of charge; pre-registration is recommended via the website.
