AML Selected as Finalist for Innovation Award

AML Oceanographic has been named a finalist for Innovative Excellence by the judges of the VIATeC Technology Awards. The category seeks to recognize the company that has best embodied the progressive nature of the technology sector by designing and producing a revolutionary product.

VIATeC, a networking and resource hub for Greater Victoria’s technology sector, has taken notice of AML this year for its development of UV•Xchange, a biofouling control product unlike any currently on the market. UV•Xchange prevents fouling by bathing critical surfaces in ultraviolet light, keeping the desired area clean and sensor data accurate. Unlike other existing methods of biofouling control, UV•Xchange inhibits marine growth without any contact or chemical pollution and is suitable for surfaces of complex geometry.

According to AML, the efficacy of UV•Xchange has been proven through various long term, in-situ trials, including several conducted with the assistance of Ocean Networks Canada at their platform off the west coast of Vancouver Island.

VIATeC will crown the winners on the evening of June 20 at the 2014 VIATeC Technology Awards Gala in Victoria, BC.
