Kessler-Ellis Products (KEP), a manufacturer of type approved displays, computers and peripherals, announced the release of its two new high definition video management systems, the HD-SDI (High Definition Serial Digital Interface) Professional and the HD Sport Cam. Able to record in high definition 1080p resolution at up to 60 frames per second, the new KEP cameras are IP68 waterproof rated– submersible to two meters for one hour.

Consisting of up to four cameras, a controller and a recorder, the KEP HD-SDI Professional video management system is fully customizable. Featuring compact mini bullet cameras designed to reduce noise and vibration, the HD Professional solution provides a field of view from 20 to 115 degrees and high resolution with clarity in any lighting condition, the manufacturer said. Ideal for security functions, mini bullet cameras can be set for motion activation and include embedded time, date and GPS data while recording from multiple, inconspicuous locations, simultaneously. Durable and waterproof, the cameras can be positioned to record from underwater, outrigger or deck-viewable locations and can even be deployed in inaccessible locations, such as in engine spaces, as part of a fire management system.

According to KEP, starting and stopping recording is simplified with an external controller mounted at a user-selectable location, such as a vessel’s helm station. An LED indicator notifies users there is power to the unit and with a flip of the switch, recording begins marked with a flashing indicator light. Built into the front of each camera is a secondary indicator LED. Advanced videography features, such as selectable group of picture (GOP) size, bit rates, custom file sizes, text overlay and adjustable audio gain levels, can easily be adjusted from the unit’s menu. The video server for the HD Professional can be used to record on a DVR or a removable SD or USB flash drive for easy transportation and management. USB flash drives can be custom printed with company or boat logos, preloaded with stock footage and still images, and when combined with video from an excursion, can provide an exciting takeaway for charter guests at the end of a trip. Optional USB replicating systems are available to duplicate the video on multiple USB drives in minutes. For additional large storage capacity, a USB external hard drive can also be installed.

Offered in one or two camera configurations, HD Sport cameras are capable of numerous recording options allowing for multiple fields of view – up to 170 degrees in 720p mode or 120 degrees in 1080p mode. A unique electro-optical zoom maintains full resolution and video quality at up to six times zoom in 720p mode. With one button, still images can be captured while continuing to record.

HD Sport video files can be reviewed on the built-in 2-inch LCD Display, a TV with the included HDMI cable, or played from the SD card on nearly any PC or Mac. Files can be shared via social media as well, while a standard MOV video format makes editing possible using nearly any editing software. Audio can be recorded using a headset or an integrated ambient microphone. Additionally, the HD Sport features a built-in GPS which logs data five times a second. Using Google Earth and proprietary software, owners can view an entire adventure, overlaying video and GPS path at the same time. The GPS data can also be recorded as text consisting of latitude and longitude coordinates, speed, altitude and time/date directly on the video.

The HD Sport comes with two batteries providing power to last approximately2-3 hours, a DC plug adapter and wall power supply, making the HD Sport a completely portable system. Cameras may be positioned inside or outside, with four versatile mounts included in the kit for positioning nearly anywhere on a vessel, car, motor home, bike or ATV.A wireless remote makes it easy to control cameras in hard-to-reach locations.

“OurHD video management systems are so versatile,” said Anthony Zuccarelli, vice president, KEP Marine. “Designed to be used both recreationally and commercially, they can be tailored to any of our customers’ needs. Whether boaters choose the Professional or the Sport, we provide a tough system, able to operate in the worst conditions while delivering the very best quality video recordings.”

The KEP Marine HD-SDI Professional bullet cameras come with 35 feet of cable, connectors, and thru hull fittings, and are priced at USD $1,350 each. Servers start at $5,000.The HD Sport configuration is priced for one camera or two at USD $799 and $999, respectively. Packages can be purchased from authorized KEP Marine dealers and distributors worldwide.
