Blue Energy for Port Infrastructure Event

The Blue Energy Production in Ports (BEPPo) project partners will hold a free conference and workshop, “Orkney Marine Energy Port Infrastructure-Lessons for NSR Ports”, from September 24-25, 2014 in Inverness, at the Kingsmills Conference Center.

Blue Energy is an emerging form of renewable energy, and this event will identify opportunities and the outstanding barriers and issues concerned with turning blue energy into real business activities.

The Orkney Islands have led Europe in the deployment of marine energy, with 14 wave and tidal devices currently deployed and operating. Significant investment has been made in Orkney ports to restructure them to support these operations and facilitate future marine projects.

This workshop focuses on how the lessons of Orkney can be applied to other North Sea Region ports to maximize the opportunities to support the development of future marine energy projects in the region, and maximize business opportunities.

This seminar is being held immediately after the Scottish Renewables Marine Conference in Inverness.
